--- Deep Glow --- by Drerika --- Deep Glow --- by Drerika
The sunshine rows strikes under the water. Shimering lights from the surface of water tries to hide the almighty monstrous being. It slowly dives deeper. Some places of his body glows yellow, warning the rest of underwater life to stay away and beware. Only the bubbles may be near. Six legs easily oars. Creepy outgrowths, long forked tongue, rough skin. Dark glimpses and shadows from the bottom of the creature's body and limbs falls down. Suddenly the yellow glowing eyes stares at you. Three pupils, each seeing diffrent (warmth, colors, light), sort of creeps into your soul. Then creature slowly shows it's mouth full of shark-like teeth...

I can't say how much i wanted to draw my Gierontos… like this. Ideas been bugging me almost for the rest of the time after I created him.
I just love all the effects in the water: shimerring lights, dark shadows, bubbles, colors, sounds.... Here i wanted to capture that moment when it is both beautifull and creepy, like in our dreams/nightmares.
What i tried new is the perspective of this creature's complicated head and light effects (shadows and sunshine rays from the surface of water).

Its entry for:

Wow, that is an amazing creature.
The extra paws and the glowy hands look awesome, so does the head. The design seems a bit alien to me, then again, so do most deep sea creatures.
The tail looks really cool to, the potrusions mimicing the ones on his head. Mimicry maybe? I know some gecko's do it.
I wonder if this guy need it though, who would attack that! :D
